A 10-day safari combining Tanzania and Kenya offers an unforgettable experience, allowing you to explore some of the most iconic wildlife reserves and national parks in East Africa. The safari will have you enjoying some of the highlights of the two countries including Nairobi National Park, Masai Mara, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater as you experience the best of wildlife, the excitement of migrations, and the beautiful skies in the night. This combined safari, expect to encounter Africa’s Big 5 and these are; elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, lions, and leopards, you will meet other mammals like cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, dik-dik, warthogs, crocodiles, aardvarks, servals, kudus, jackals, galagos, bush babies, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys with birds like flamingos, Kori bustard, pygmy falcon, white-backed vulture, mousebirds, southern ground hornbill, honeyguide, painted-snipe, Fischer’s lovebird, African fish eagle, African jacana, turacos, pied kingfisher, superb starling, Egyptian goose, marabou stork and many more. The trip will start in Kenya and end in Tanzania.

Tour Itinerary

You will be picked up from the airport by a driver guide from Glory Summit Tours, who will also give you a brief run of what you can expect in the 10 days of your safari. You will then head to Nairobi city center and check into a lodging for the night, rest as you wait for an early lunch, after which you will proceed to the Nairobi National Park which is a short drive from the city center for an afternoon game drive to explore the park's diverse ecosystems and spot its inhabitants. Experienced guides lead the game drives and provide information about the wildlife, ecology, and conservation efforts in the park. Expect to see the endangered black rhinos as the park is known for its populations of black rhinos, and it provides a chance to see these magnificent creatures up close, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, rhinos, cheetahs, hippos, and various antelope species. When done, you will head back to your lodging, have dinner, and retire for the night.

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodging and find your way to Lake Nakuru National Park which will take about 3_4 hours. On your way to Lake Nakuru National Park offers travelers a scenic drive through diverse landscapes, providing a rich visual experience of Kenya's natural beauty and cultural landmarks. When you arrive, you will check into your lodging and have lunch. After lunch, you will head out to Lake Nakuru for a boat cruise. The cruise will last about 2-3hours and during the cruise, you will see animals like waterbuck, hippos, gazelles, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, and birds like flamingos, pelicans, herons, cormorants, storks, fish eagles and many more. Once done you will head back to your lodging in dinner for dinner and some relaxation as you rest the night away.

After breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver guide for birding along the shores of Lake Nakuru as it is one of the popular spots where birds are easily viewed. With 450 bird species, you will be in a position to see common, migratory and endemic birds including flamingos, crab plover, great snipe, Egyptian goose, grey crowned crane, nightjars, common cuckoo, great white pelicans, grebes, northern shoveler, stilts and avocets, great cormorants, common swift, garganey, greenshank, northern pintail, Columbidae and more. While birding you will also have a chance to view animals like hippos, zebras, giraffes, lions, waterbucks, and more. Once birding is complete, you will head back to your lodging for lunch, after which you will head out for an afternoon game drive which will take about 2-3 hours. Expect to see animals like lions, buffaloes, waterbucks, zebras, giraffes, hippos, gazelles, kudus, impalas, antelopes with birds like grey crowned crane, Speke’s weaver, eastern imperial eagle, brimstone canary, black-tailed godwit, brown-backed scrub robin, crab-plover, great snipe and many more. When done, you will go back to your lodging and rest while you enjoy the sun setting, have dinner then retire for the night.

You will have breakfast, check off your lodging, and exit Lake Nakuru National Park for Maasai Mara which will take about 4-5 hours. On route from Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara offers a rich tapestry of Kenya's diverse landscapes, from lush highlands and agricultural fields to dramatic escarpments and iconic savannahs, culminating in the world-renowned wildlife haven of Maasai Mara. You will arrive at your lodging in the afternoon, have lunch, and check-in. You will then rest as you wait for the evening game drive. Expect to see animals like lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and topi as the cool temperatures bring out the predators which might allow you to witness a kill or some animals scavenging. At sunset, you will head back to your lodging for dinner and retire at will as you enjoy the night skies above the Mara.

Full day in Mara

You can never have enough of the Mara and every new day has a new adventure and new experience. So after your breakfast, you will head back for a morning game drive which will give you a chance to see more animals than the previous evening including the Big Five including the endangered black rhinos, expect to see lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, gazelles, hippos, hartebeests, zebras, impalas, giraffes and more with birds like ostriches, guinea fowls, turacos, hornbills, herons, finfoots, kingfishers and more. After the drive, you will set camp for a lunch picnic as you watch more animals and birds. Once lunch is done, you will continue to the Masaai village for a tour of the community that lives within the Mara. Here you will engage with the Masaai people with a local guide who are mobile pastoralists with a unique culture not known or found anywhere else in the world. Through cultural dances, milking their cows, getting fresh blood from animals, making their local houses and many more activities will give you an insight into who they are intimately. You will also enjoy the sunset, then head back to your lodging, freshen up, and have dinner. Then sit by the fire as you enjoy the clear beautiful skies and retire at will.

You will have your breakfast, then check off your lodging and exit Maasai Mara for Serengeti which will take about 3-4 hours. From Maasai Mara to Serengeti is more than just a transfer; it's an extension of your safari experience, offering continuous opportunities for wildlife viewing and scenic landscapes that epitomize the natural beauty of East Africa. Once you have crossed over to Tanzania, you will check into your lodging in Serengeti and then have lunch. After resting you will head out for a community tour of the Masai people. With a local guide, you will learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Masai people, who inhabit areas surrounding the Serengeti. You can visit the Masai villages, interact with community members, and participate in cultural activities such as traditional dances, beadwork demonstrations, and storytelling sessions. Once done you will head back to your lodging in the evening, and have dinner at rest at will.

Game drives are the primary activity in the Serengeti and offer visitors the chance to explore the vast savannah plains and spot a diverse array of wildlife. Experienced guides lead drives in open-top safari vehicles, taking visitors to prime viewing areas where they can see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros), as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests. So after the morning game drive, you will have lunch within the Serengeti. After lunch, you will embark on another game drive with an opportunity to see any animals that you missed out on during the morning like lions, buffaloes, hyenas, giraffes, kudus, dik-dik, warthogs, gazelles, and many more with birds like wheatears, weavers, African fish eagles, vultures, kori bustard, ostriches, lilac-breasted roller and hornbills. When done with all this thrill and wildlife viewing, you will head back to your lodging, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Waking up early in the morning, you will prepare to check out of your lodging, have breakfast then exit the Serengeti for Ngorongoro crater which will take about 5-6 hours. On route, the journey shows Tanzania's most spectacular landscapes. The route showcases the dramatic changes from the endless plains of the Serengeti to the lush, green highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will arrive in Ngorongoro crater in the late afternoon, check into your lodging, and relax for the evening. Enjoy the sunset, then have dinner after which you will enjoy an evening fire to close off the day and retire at will.

After breakfast, you will head out for a full day’s activities in the Ngorongoro Crater which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic safari destinations in Africa. The Crater Rim Walk at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the stunning scenery and diverse ecosystems of the area on foot. The Crater Rim Walk provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Ngorongoro Crater and its surrounding landscapes. From the crater rim, you can enjoy sweeping vistas of the crater floor, the surrounding highlands, and the distant horizon. As you walk along the crater rim, you'll encounter a variety of habitats, including lush forests, grassy plains, and rocky outcrops. Keep an eye out for grazing antelopes, baboons, and other small mammals, as well as bird species like vultures, weavers, hornbills, kori bustards, martial eagles, olive sunbirds, bee-eaters, and European roller. After breakfast, you will check out of your lodging and have breakfast then exit the crater for Arusha, the drive will take about 3-4 hours. Traveling from the Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha takes you through some of Tanzania's most beautiful and diverse landscapes. The journey showcases the transition from the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the bustling town of Arusha, set against the backdrop of Mount Meru. You will arrive at the airport in the afternoon in time for your check marking the end of the 10 days combined Tanzania and Kenya safari.
