7 Days Rwanda wildlife and primates safari is a magical safari to the land of a thousand hills that mingles Rwanda’s wildlife and her primates on a single package. This safari will therefore take you to Akagera National Park which is the only savannah dominated and the largest park in the country that harbors all the big Fives, the most visited National Park and a haven to both mountain gorillas and golden monkeys known as Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National park that boasts with over 13 primate species and famous for its unique canopy suspended walk that gives one an aerial view of the park and its surroundings. Get exposed to Africa’s cleanest city as you make visits to its convention center, genocide memorials as well as museums that will give you a typical insight of what transpired during the Hutu’s attacks on the Tutsi.

The company driver guide will receive you and later brief you through this itinerary highlighting your expectations and the time frame designed for each activity. You will then embark on your 2 hours’ drive to Akagera National Park as you enjoy the beautiful views of the Rwandan countryside arriving to check-in at a pre-arranged lodge and have lunch. Proceed for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to explore the biodiversity in and around the lake. Lake Ihema is famous for its largest Hippopotamus concentration in the whole East Africa as you will be able to spot various aquatic animals like crocodiles while you enjoy fascinating captures of bird species for example the Jacanas, papyrus Gonolek, Sandpipers, Kingfishers, Herons, Shoebill stork and many more. Get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Wakeup to a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and proceed to the jungle in the northern sector for a game drive as you enjoy the scenic views of the Akagera savannah landscapes. You will have the opportunity to spot the big five as well as watching a variety of bird species that roam the park. Get back to the lodge to have your lunch after which you will return to the southern sector of the park where you will encounter large concentrations of animals for example elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, elands, topis, zebras and many more along water bodies like Lake Ihema, Shakani and River Kagera. You will retire back to the lodge as you wait to have dinner and an overnight.

After your breakfast, check-out and embark on your four and a half hours’ drive to Volcanoes National Park a home to the rare mountain gorillas arriving to check in at a pre-arranged lodge and have your lunch. After lunch, proceed to a cultural village that combines Rwanda’s cultural norms, traditions and history in one place that you will all experience. You will get to learn how life was in the ancient African setting for example housings, dress code, medicinal herbs, hunting skills, marriage rituals and many more as you may purchase souvenirs. Return back to the lodge, have dinner and a night stay as you wait to have the most rewarding activity in the next morning.

Greet your intestines with a morning breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking etiquettes and your expectations. You will be led to the forested slopes by game ranges in search of the gentle giants taking you 1 to 6 hours to locate a family after which you will enjoy an hour in their presence as you watch gorilla infants and juveniles roll around and play while you expect dominant silver backs to get close to you as they try to inspect whether they are safe or not. Transcend back to the lodge for lunch and later make a visit to twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. A boat cruise awaits as you will enjoy the scenic view of the Virunga mountains, bushongo and munanira islands. Expect to enjoy beautiful bird species as they roam the Lakes’ waters and shores.

 After your morning breakfast, you will return to the park headquarters for a briefing about the golden monkey trekking dos and don’ts. Proceed to the bamboo dominated mountain slopes led by a ranger guide as you try to find this endangered monkey specie while you follow the left over bamboo shoots that are left after they have fed on the shoots. You will enjoy an hour with the monkeys as they play and feed after you have located a troop. Return back to the lodge for an early lunch, check out and embark on your 4 hours’ drive to Nyungwe National Park and arriving to check in at a pre-arranged lodge to have dinner and an overnight.

Have an early morning breakfast and be driven to Uwinka reception center for a briefing about the chimpanzee trekking etiquettes. You will then be driven to the starting point of the trek to start on the search of these human like creatures as you also spot a variety of other primates. You will spend an hour with the chimpanzees as you closely observe them in their natural habitat and later get back to the lodge for your lunch. After lunch, proceed to have the most exhilarating experience in nyungwe forests as you will have a 2 hours’ guided walk on a suspended 70m high and 160m long bridge. You will have great views of Lake Kivu, East African rift valley region and sections of the park while you have aerial spots of animals and bird kinds. Return back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Wake up very early to grab yourself a cup of coffee, checkout to meet your driver guide and immediately catch your 4 to 5 hours’ drive to Kigali. Arrival will be in the early afternoon, have an early lunch and proceed for a tour around Africa’s cleanest city to areas of Kigali genocide memorial, camp Kigali memorial, Nyamata church and museums that all have historical attachment to this country of a thousand hills. You will later be dropped off to Kigali international airport to catch your outbound flight back home or to a hotel of your choice to relax and have rest as you wait to catch your flight.
