This 5 Days Bwindi and Akagera National Park Safari is a fun full safari that is less tiresome and adventurous trip that will expose you to Uganda’s most visited tourist destination for gorillas and that is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where a half of the world’s gorilla population stays. The safari will take you to Rwanda’s Big 5 destination and is Akagera National Park where you will be able to spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, antelopes, baboons, birds, to mention but a few and other wild fun.

Tour Itinerary

In your first leg, meet your driver guide who will pick you from the hotel, brief you about the safari and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in Southwestern Uganda and it is 9hours drive from Kampala but with stopover at the Equator and lunch break in Mbarara City. The first stopover will be at the Equator where you will stand in the both hemispheres of the world, there are craft-shops where you can buy some souvenirs, proceed to Mbarara where you will have lunch and then proceed to Bwindi, arriving in the evening, check-in to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up in the early morning for a delicious breakfast and be transferred to the information center where you will be taught about gorilla trekking etiquettes, be allocated a gorilla family to track and then head to the jungle with a ranger guide to track the gorillas. Tracking normally takes 1 to 6 hours depending on how far the primates spent the last night, you always have an hour with gorillas, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and then in the evening visit the Batwa tribe who will dance for you, sing for you and then retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

You will wake in the morning for a scrumptious breakfast being served at your balcony as you catch the intimate of the misty jungle of Bwindi. You will check-out and be transferred to Rwanda the land of a thousand hills and it is known for having the cleanest City Kigali in the whole of Africa. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will have a hot lunch and then be driven to lodge in Akagera National Park where you will have an overnight.

Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a delicious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the jungle to meet the Big 5 animals in their natural habitat and these are; lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. Akagera gives the best gem activities since it is packed with animals and they can be seen from a close range. You will be able to see giraffes, hyenas, zebras, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, birds for example kingfishers, Rwenzori turaco, and African fish eagles, among others. You return to the lodge for lunch and then prepare for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema which is the main source of water for wildlife and here you will be able to spot so many animals those coming to drink water and water animals like hippopotamuses, crocodiles and other water birds, you can also engage in fishing while on the cruise and your catch can be prepared at your lodge. You will enjoy the beautiful sceneries and the sunset on the water cruise as well. Return to the lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight.

On your last day, wake up on your time of convenience for mouthwatering breakfast and bid a farewell to Akagera and head Kigali. Arriving in Kigali at lunchtime, have lunch and the depending on your time of flight you might do a City tour if time allows where you will visit local markets, GENOCIDE MEMORIAL MUSEUM. This will mark the end of your trip.
